SEYI Leading Development of High-Tech Stamping System
SEYI America, a leading international manufacturer of stamping presses, has announced that it’s nearing completion of a joint venture undertaken with its primary controls supplier, Wintriss Controls. This collaboration was initiated to design and set up a high-speed, highly-automated turnkey press line for a well-known American manufacturing company.
As part of this process, SEYI engineers recently completed the successful run off of a pair of 50-ton SEYI SH2-50 high-speed presses at the company’s facility in Tullahoma, Tennessee. With capabilities of up to 700 strokes per minute, these two SEYI presses will provide the muscle behind this high-precision production system. These presses will be the first SEYI presses of their kind installed in America.
The SEYI presses will be controlled by a Wintriss WPC 2000 clutch/brake control, which will also be outfitted with a high-tech SmartPAC2 Automation Control. The SmartPAC2 provides greater productivity by integrating a number of press functions into one user-friendly control. And, for added flexibility, the SmartPAC2 features a built-in Internet connection, enabling operators to monitor press status remotely any time of the day or night.
Other high-tech features of this system include an Allen Bradley Micrologix 1400 Programmable Controller, which will handle automated control of the payout reel, pull-through feeder, loop control, parts washer and rewind reel. In addition, the main motor will be controlled by a Delta variable frequency drive with a two bank resistor braking system designed to efficiently dissipate energy when a decrease in speed is required.
Plus, because heat build-up can be an issue when running at such high speeds, each press will be outfitted with a recirculating oil cooling/heating unit. This important feature will keep the press at a constant temperature during stamping, assuring the consistent production of precision parts.
SEYI has performed a lead role in the development and integration of this high-speed, high-tech automated system. The new system is currently in the final stages of pre-installation integration and testing, and will be placed into production soon. |
